When I was a young child, my siblings and I used to visit my grandparent's house in Cape Jervis (South Australia) where they had "adopted" a magpie, named Maggie. This magpie would visit them every day, hang out with them, and be fed mince. I've always related the magpie's early morning calls to staying at my grandparent's house. This piece is dear to my heart as it symbolises those precious memories.
